Jaguar C-Type(Proteus). A very special example, built during the late 1980s. Historic, tax-free registered. The all-alloy body was hand-built by Shapecraft and the car assembled by Bob Cooper of Autec, on one of the first of the second series Proteus chassis, as a special order, no-expense-spared project. The car first changed hands in 1993, the next owner keeping it until early 2009. During this time he continually upgraded the car, keeping it in excellent condition, though not using it a great deal; only 13,500 miles have been covered since its creation. One of its many interesting features is the unique detachable touring screen, together with hood, which makes journeys altogether very much more comfortable. The engine is a Jaguar 3.8 thick-wall block built by Trafford engineering, with C-Type head and manifolds, high-lift cams, high compression pistons and twin two-inch S.U carbs, providing extremely good performance. Recently tuned by Sigma engineering, the car produced 199bhp at the rear wheels. Its four-synchromesh gearbox and modified overdrive, allow for relaxed, long-distance cruising. The live rear axle has correct trailing-arm suspension with C-type ratio. Attention to detail is considerable. Instrumentation, switches and cockpit finish are all very close, and in parts exact, to the original C-Type; the exterior is virtually identical. It even has an 'Appleyard-esque' registration! The car is finished in a mid-to-dark blue metallic with navy blue leather upholstered seats and has Borrani wheels with Pirelli Cinturato tyres. This is a fabulous C-Type recreation.
