Austin Twelve “New Ascot” Saloon. First registered 1938. This is the face-lift model with subtle differences to the earlier, 1937 model. Finished in Royal blue with black wings and navy blue interior. Sold by us to its last owner nearly twenty one years ago. Mechanically this car is superb. The engine is smooth, quiet and providing good performance. The gearbox has excellent synchromesh and is a delight to use. The body is sound but the paintwork, although clean and with a good finish is old and scruffy. The interior is very good, still with its original leather seats, excellent roof lining, however moths have enjoyed much of the carpet pile. It comes with a Pytchly sunroof, fitted luggage trunk, period overtaking mirror and original working semaphore indicators. There is a growing band of enthusiasts who prefer to enjoy their cars to be like this one, unrestored, tidy but a little scruffy and very usable. Utterly charming old car.
